FAQS

I spend many hours of love and care to create a highly detailed portrait, so the character of your pet or loved one will shine through. My prices are based on the size and amount of subjects. A handmade portrait of a single subject is £350 on A4, £465 on A3 or £585 on A2. This is the same for watercolour and graphite. I take a 50% booking fee upon booking, and the remaining balance is due once the artwork is complete.

I’m an artist based in Plymouth, Devon, on the southwest coast of England. I create portraits from photos, and work with many clients across the UK and overseas. My portrait price list includes special delivery within the UK. Please get in touch for a quote for overseas shipping.

Absolutely! I know it’s sometimes difficult to get family members and especially pets to sit still together, and I often compose portraits from separate photos of each subject. This way, I can create moments that never happened, like family members together who sadly never got to meet, incorporating someone who couldn’t make it to your wedding, or your past and present pets together. One very special painting I have created was based on a photo of my client as a child, in his grandfather’s arms. My client asked me to compose the portrait with a photo of his baby daughter, being held by her great grandad, who she sadly never got to meet.

Yes, I can create group portraits working from a group or individual photos.

I offer portraits in a range of paper sizes, starting from A4, to A3, and a large, statement A2 size. Your portrait will fill a large area of the paper. I’m also more than happy to discuss bespoke sizes.

I offer professional mounting for all my portraits. Additionally, if you’re local to Plymouth, I can professionally frame portraits of all sizes before hand delivering them. This can be discussed at the initial consultation – just get in touch to discuss your requirements. I recommend my signature style: a black frame with a double mount, which really makes the artwork pop!

Yes, all consultations are over the phone and free. I am more than happy to talk you through what you’d like your portrait to be and offer you advice to find the right solution for you.

My portrait waiting list varies, dependent on the amount of bookings I have at the time of your enquiry. I create portraits by hand, so my availability for commissions is limited – I’d love to help with your special gift, so please get in touch with plenty of time where possible, so I can create your artwork ready for the occasion. Please get in touch to find out my next available slot.

I work with the finest artist-quality watercolours and graphite pencils, to ensure your original piece of art will last for years to come. I also use archival, acid free paper.

Your portrait will be packaged with care and sent via Special Delivery within the UK. The method of shipping overseas may vary, but I usually use Trans Global Express.

I usually take a 50% booking fee at the point of booking your portrait, and I am happy to discuss payment plans with lower monthly instalments. In this instance, you would receive the portrait once the full balance of the invoice has been paid.

My clients are usually happy to have their portrait displayed on my marketing such as my website, leaflets, and social media, as well as large copies framed and displayed at events. If you’d prefer, I can also swap the subject’s name for a pseudonym when sharing your artwork.

I work with a local, specialist art printer and would be happy to create high-quality giclee prints of your portrait. These are printed on archival textured paper and do beautiful justice to the original artwork. Whether you’d like to give your portrait as a gift to multiple people, or keep a copy for yourself too, this can be a special addition to your commission.

I do teach art in the Plymouth area – please find more information on my ‘art classes’ page, or feel free to get in touch.
